About Me
I qualified from City University London in 2006 with a Postgraduate Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy, and I have over 14 years' experience of working as a Speech and Language Therapist in Sussex with the NHS. My areas of expertise include:
I believe in really getting to know your child so we can find out the very best approaches and activities for them. When I assess or carry out therapy with your child, I will carefully consider their needs, their interests and the environments where they learn and play. This may be at your child's nursery or school, or in your own home. I will also work closely with your local NHS team if they are involved, and with any other professionals supporting your child.
I am Autistic, and I specialise in providing Neurodivergence-Affirming assessment and therapy for the young people and families I work with. I have a special interest in working with autistic older children and young adults, and those with a Pathological Demand Avoidance profile.
I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice, and I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
If you have any concerns about your child's speech and language development, please get in touch and we can chat about how I may be able to help.
Here are some of the services I provide. I am happy to discuss more specific, tailored packages including training for teaching staff or regular contracts with educational providers.
The length of an assessment session will vary depending on your child's needs and the various activities it will be necessary to use. A typical assessment session takes 1-2 hours to complete, including observation, formal assessment and information-gathering from parents, carers and other professionals. I will write a brief summary of my findings and assessments used.
A full written report can be provided on request.
This may consist of classroom observations, which will include liaison with teaching staff and SENCO
This would be the typical length of a session if your child has a combination of targets and difficulties, or more complex speech or language needs. This includes 30-45 minutes of face to face work and 15-30 minutes of feedback time and note-writing
This would include 45 minutes of face to face time and 15 minutes for note-writing and feedback.
This would be the typical length of a session for mild speech sound difficulties, or more frequent, intensive therapy sessions. It would include 15-20 minutes of therapy and 10-15 minutes for note-writing and feedback.
I can provide a fully detailed report following your child's assessment, including assessment scores and analysis, and detailed outcomes and recommendations for their therapy input.
I am happy to attend meetings with other professionals regarding your child's speech and language progress, if I have sufficient notice.
